Design and performance of the ALICE TRD front-end electronics
The Transition Radiation Detector (TRD) of the ALICE experiment at CERN incorporates 1.2 million channels which are individually read out and processed. The front-end electronics (FEE) utilizes two custom chips: an 18 channel analog preamplifier and shaper (PASA) and a mixed-signal chip, performing 10 bit analog-to-digital conversion, event buffering and local tracking (TRAP). Both chips togeth...
متن کاملPerformance of the ALICE TRD with first LHC collisions
In December 2009 a milestone of the ALICE Transition Radiation Detector (TRD) [1] was marked when the detector was turned on to record tracks of particles produced by first stable beams in collision at the Large Hadron Collider. We report here the performance of the detector during the ensuing data taking period of 2 weeks. Of the 18 TRD supermodules, 7 are currently installed in the ALICE setu...
متن کاملFirst beam test of the Frankfurt prototype for the CBM TRD
As one of the key components in the CBM experiment, the Transition Radiation Detector (TRD) will play a significant role in the particle identification. A fast detector with double sided readout chambers[1] and a ALICE type of detector with both drift and amplification regions have been designed for the circumstance of high particle rates. We propose to build a fast detector with an amplificati...
متن کاملFrames in super Hilbert modules
In this paper, we define super Hilbert module and investigate frames in this space. Super Hilbert modules are generalization of super Hilbert spaces in Hilbert C*-module setting. Also, we define frames in a super Hilbert module and characterize them by using of the concept of g-frames in a Hilbert C*-module. Finally, disjoint frames in Hilbert C*-modules are introduced and investigated.
متن کاملThe status of the ALICE TRD project
During the year 2008 the Transition Radiation Detector project of the ALICE experiment at LHC has accomplished important milestones and has progressed towards readiness for data taking. We will review the status of the project and the various ongoing activities. The chamber production was completed in 2008, so that now all 540 individual readout chambers (ROC) of TRD are ready. The chambers are...
